Congratulations to Kareena Vandervort and Tyler Aucoin for being Butler High School's Athletes of the Week. Kareena Vandervort who is a track star for the Aviators decided to try something new this fall by running cross country. She has been on fire finishing as our top racer in the last two races. She competed in her second cross country meet 2 weekends ago taking 6th place overall a the Piqua Night Race with a 19:12 and this past weekend at the Troy Twilight Invite she finished 6th out of 185 runners. Congratulations Karenna, Keep working hard!! Tyler Aucoin is a Junior-Striker, 29 goals in 11 games. Broke the single season scoring record after only ten games. Leads the area in goals scored. Tyler brings it every game, scoring at least one goal against every opponent we have faced. He works hard in the classroom and on the training ground. He is a great example to the younger players and a fantastic leader. Congratulations Tyler, Keep working hard!!

This Saturday is the 3rd annual Sarah and Kayla Memorial Walk/Run 5K. The run kicks off at the Rec Center at 9:00am. This Memorial funds scholarships that are awarded to a male and female athlete in remembrance of Sarah and Kayla who were tragically taken from us. We still have a lot of regular season left but boys golf moves into post season competition this Thursday in the OHSAA Sectional Championships. Our girls tennis team competes in the MVL Championships this Thursday as well. Last week the Varsity Volleyball team defeated Tipp City in 3 sets to move to 1st place in the MVL. They are back on the courts today vs West Carrollton. Boys Soccer is battling it out with Tipp and Troy. We currently have a loss to Troy, where Tipp and Troy tied. Girls soccer we are battling it out with Tipp and Troy as well where we took a loss to Troy but Tipp beat Troy. Both Boys and Girls Soccer will clash with Tipp in October. Our boys and girls cross country teams are on the road this week. Last Saturday the girls finished 4th overall at the Troy Twilight Invite. Standings can be found at mvlathletics.com. Boys golf currently is the leader with the MVL championships coming up Monday. Girls Golf is battling it out with Greenville and Troy for an MVL Title. Girls tennis is currently tied for 2nd place with Troy chasing the league leader, Tipp. Football is home this Friday against Greenville. Congratulations to our Boys Golf Team - Bringing home a championship trophy shooting a 310 at the Wildcat Invitational. Bennett, Tim and Isaac finish tied for 6th place with a 77, rounding out the top four was Max with a 79 and finishing just behind with 80 was Zane. Way to go men, Keep Working Hard!!

Congratulations to Lexi Hayes on qualifying for the OHSAA District Championships on Tuesday Oct. 6th at Heatherwoode. Lexi punches her District Ticket in a playoff breaking the tie on the second hole. Way to go Lexi!! Good Luck!! The team had a strong showing today placing 7th overall.

Congratulations to Bennett Bardonaro and Sophia Guggenbiller for being Butler High Schools Athlete of the Week!! Sophia is leading the Aviators in kills and aces, and currently sits in second place in the league in kills. She has doubled her hitting percentage since last year, and her kill percentage is currently 200 points higher than where she finished last season. Sophia is a multi-sport athlete that has proven over and over throughout her career as an Aviator to be dynamic, dedicated and determined. She thrives under pressure, delivers in big moments and celebrates the success of others. Congratulations Sophia, Keep Working Hard!! Bennett is a three-year varsity golfer who has been a major contributor to Butler’s outstanding season and current first-place standing in the Miami Valley League. He currently ranks 2nd in the entire MVL with a 37.6 scoring average and has been remarkably consistent, posting rounds in the mid-30s. In addition to his performance on the course, Bennett has become a leader within the program, regularly taking the initiative to organize teammates for additional practice rounds and spending time improving together outside of scheduled practices. His combination of high-level play, consistency, leadership, academic success and commitment to his teammates has helped set the tone for Butler’s success this season. Congratulations Bennett, Keep Working Hard!! Both Sophia and Bennett are another great example of student-athletes who not only get it done athletically but also in the classroom!! Go Aviators!!

Congratulations to Taelyn McCracken and Jace Love for being Butler High School's Athlete of the Week. Taelyn played a huge role in two TOUGH road wins over Northmont and CJ over the past couple weeks. Stepping into an almost-full time role this year at starting CB, Tae has anchored the defense and significantly limited opponent scoring opportunities. She has been tasked with marking the most threatening striker on each team we've played and, with the support of her teammates, has consistently exceeded expectations. Most importantly, Taelyn is a good teammate, working hard in practice, the film room, and supporting those around her both on and off the field. She contributes positively to the team environment and consistently puts the success of the team above her own. Congratulations Tae, Keep working hard!! Congratulation to Nora Stamen and Lucas Miller for being this weeks Athletes of the Week for Butler High School. Nora has worked incredibly hard to come back from her injury and surgery. Nora has made an immediate impact for the Lady Aviators on serve receive, defense and serving during our first two wins. She’s the hardest worker in the gym, the ultimate competitor, and a teammate you can count on for leadership, encouragement and support. Nora sets the tone at practice and games and plays in a manner that brings out the best in those around her. The Aviators are hard at work for our school and community. We had a nice crowd Friday Night for the 41 Hope game where the Aviators won 42-28 over Stebbins. Both our boys and girls golf teams are making a lot of noise where the boys are currently leading the MVL in competition and the girls are pushing to be a top contender. Our volleyball team opened up last week at home with a victory moving them to 2-0 in MVL action. Our boys soccer team and girls soccer team are both 2-0 in MVL action. Our girls cross country team placed third this past weekend in the Bob Schul Invitational. Congratulations to our top finishers and medalists: Kareena Vandervort (3rd), Peyton Wilmoth (8th) and Jack Rosson taking second place overall for the boys race. Girls tennis is pushing hard as well with a current standing of 3-1 in MVL action. We have a lot of home games this week.
