The Vandalia-Butler City School District will dedicate its new scoreboard to the memory of David “Doc” Amlin, a 1970’s Butler High School graduate, on Friday, Oct. 5 during the homecoming football game.
After high school, Amlin served as a dentist in the U.S. Army and as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves up until he received an honorable discharged. He then worked as a dentist in the city of Vandalia for 30 years and even spent some of his time coaching football for the Butler Aviators.
Amlin strived for excellence in everything he did, and he loved the Vandalia-Butler community and schools. He also loved his football players, the Xs, and Os of the game, his office staff, and his family.
On January 18, 2017, Doc passed away. To honor his memory and all he did for the community, the District dedicates the scoreboard at Memorial Stadium to Doc Amlin.
