The Butler boys’ varsity basketball team moved to 8-1 Tuesday, Jan. 2 after defeating the Team Across the Dam in overtime.
After the first quarter, the Aviators were up 10 points on the TBolts leading 17-7. Northmont came out strong in the second quarter, but it was the Aviators who ended the half on top, 27-20.
The second half of the game was a battle back and forth with the Aviators leading by only three points at the end of the third.
The final buzzer went off, with a score of 48-48, sending the game into an overtime battle.
The Aviators went 8-8 from the field and 6-6 from the line to outscore the Bolts 22-10 in OT making the final score 70-58.
Senior Kort Justice led the Aviators with 28 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Junior Michael Kreill added 16 points and 4 assists. Junior Bryant Johnson put up 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals while junior Ryan Wertz added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The Aviator’s next game is tomorrow night, Friday, Jan 5 against Fairborn in the SAC. Freshmen tip off at 4:30 p.m., JV at 6:00 and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
