On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the Butler varsity basketball team defeated the number one team in the GWOC North, the Sidney Yellowjackets.
The Aviators took a 13-8 lead in the first quarter. However, the Yellowjackets won the second quarter 15-10. The score was tied, 23-23 going into halftime.
Both the Aviators and the Yellowjackets came out strong in the third quarter; Butler again winning the quarter by outscoring Sidney 14-12.
Going into the fourth quarter, Butler held a two-point lead. The score was 37-35.
The final quarter was a battle, but the Aviators were big on the line and took care of the ball.
At the end of the game, the score was 53-47; Butler bringing home the victory.
Senior Miles Joiner led the Aviators with 27 points and 6 rebounds.
Sophomore Michael Kreill added 12 points, and senior Tyler Burley added 9 points. Also, scoring was senior Nathan Stogdill with 3 points and sophomore Bryant Johnson with 2 points.
Friday, Feb. 17, the Aviators take on the Tippecanoe Red Devils in the Butler SAC. Varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
