Multiple Teams · Middle School Softball Improves to 5-1 After Win Over Springfield

In support of a local breast cancer treatment facility, the Springfield Wildcats hosted the Aviators Friday night in a special game. Both teams work pink and proudly supported the cause.

The Aviators came out fighting and scored three runs in the first inning, the Cats came out swinging but the Aviator defense shut them down with three put outs in a row. The Cats put one on the board in the second inning. The Aviators answered with a run in the third, fourth and sixth innings. It looked like the Cats were going to be held to just one run but in the bottom of the seventh, they came out swinging and put two more on the board.  The Aviators held on for the 6-3 2 win.

The umpire was quoted as saying “this is the most exciting game I’ve seen in weeks.”

It’s a busy week for the girls. Monday and Tuesday, the girls play Greenville.  Wednesday is a make-up game from 4/11 in Piqua.  Thursday the girls Northmont White again, after beating them 14-2 in the first game of the season.
